Borden Alpine Actions

The Borden Alpine is a direct drop in replacement for the short action Remington 700.  Like its cousin the SSR, the Alpine is designed with weight reducing features that make it a great choice for short or long range hunting applications. However, unlike the SSR, the Borden Alpine DOES NOT feature the Borden Bumps on the bolt which are a benchrest technology.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the SSR use the Remington 700 Inlet?

Yes, The Borden Alpine is a perfect match for your Remington 700 Short Action application. Just let us know if you have a Remington Swept Handle or a standard handle and it will work perfectly. Borden pinned lugs are .250″ thick, so check your Remington lug for matching thickness before dropping in.

Can the Borden Alpine use a magzine?

Yes, the Borden Alpine is designed to accept magazines. We recommend the standard Remington Short Mag Well or the Wyatt Short Standard inlet if you are using a magazine. We have not tested the new WSM bottom metal and magazines yet and as such we cannot recommend shooting a WSM from a magazine. The fitted bottom metal functions perfectly for the WSM.

What are the mag well options for the Alpine?

With three different magazine well options, the Borden Alpine is nothing if not versatile. Here is the recommendations we give to our clients regarding mag well length:

  • Remington Short Well:
    • 22-250
    • 6mm BR – Magazine Feed
    • 308 Winhcester
    • 243 Winchester
  • Wyatt Short Standard Well:
    • 6.5×47 Lapua
    • 6.5 Creedmoor
  • Wyatt WSM Well:
    • 300 WSM
    • 300 RSAUM
    • 7mm WSM
    • 7 RSAUM
Aret there protective coatings available?

Yes, the PVD process we call “Black Cat” is available for the Alpine. Black Cat has a Vickers hardness of 3500 and will not only provide weather protection for your action but will also prevent galling and will make the action feel slicker.
