284 Bottom Eject

The Borden BRL and bigger cousin, the BRLXD, are the only actions on the market that can bottom eject a 284 Winchester case.

Perfect for Long Range Hunting

Ask top hunting smiths like Alex Wheeler of Wheeler Accuracy, if you’re in the market for a long range hunting rifle for the 300 RUM, consider a single shot. Only a single shot can use the Berger 230 and not be past the neck shoulder junction.

When Jim and I first disucess bottom eject actions, I was in the middle of getting F-Class coaching from Erik Cortina. After flinging brass all over the dirt and sand of Ben Avery range, I knew I was going to build a 284 bottom eject.  Enter the Borden BRL and BRLXD. I haven’t looked back since and I never bang up my brass.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order a BRL in 223 bolt face?

Sure, however we highly recommend against it. There are far better solutions for the short 223 cases, like the Borden BR.

Does the BRL use a Remington 700 inlet?

NO!  The BRL is a square tang action that is similar to other benchrest actions from other manufacturers.  You may use the BRL with the McMIllian BAT semi inlet as long as the front action screw has not been drilled.  The profile of the Borden BRL tang is slightly wider and longer than the BAT so it drops in after very little inletting.

Tenon and Headspace

Like other benchrest actions in the Borden Stable, the BRL uses a .900″ tenon length.  Some people call this head space and believe head space is interchangeable with tenon length.  The tenon diameter and thread pitch is 1116-18

What calibers will a Bottom Eject Borden BRL handle?

Bottom eject Borden BRL actions are built for the 6.5×47 cases and their wildcats as well as the 284 Winchester and wildcats.
