Borden Timberline Actions

As a direct drop in, hunting class action for the Remington 700 long action, the Borden Timberline is immensely popular. Coupled with the Wyatt Ultra Well, the Timberline is more than capable of handling the new 28 and 30 Nosler as well as the 300 RUM. Borden Bumps do not come on the Timberline actions, unlike its cousin, the LSR.

Lightweight Options

As with all hunting class actions from Borden Accuracy, we try and stock the Titanium versions of these actions. With weights under 22 oz a Titanium Timberline will keep you under the 6 pound rifle weight* that so many mountain hunters require.

*Note:  To make 6 pounds other specifics must be ironed out such as scope weight and stock weight.

Protective Coatings

Back mountain hunters have always longed for a way to prevent their equipment from rusting. Through a from of micro surface hardening, PVD or “Black Cat”, is both a rust inhibitor and a durability improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Timberline Use a Remington 700 Inlet?

Yes, The Borden Timberline is a perfect match for your Remington 700 Long Action application. Just let us know if you have a Remington Swept Handle or a standard handle and it will work perfectly. Borden pinned lugs are .250″ thick, so check your Remington lug for matching thickness before dropping in.

Is this a Clone of a Remington 700 Long Action?

No, we here at Taylor accuracy do not believe this is a true clone. The Borden Timberline has a few upgraded options compared to the Remington 700 that prevent it from being a clone. The use of 8×40 screw holes for the scope mount as well as not having a staggered rail system. These are just a few upgrades that keeps it from being an identical clone. Thus, it’s a drop in.

What calibers do you recommend for the Borden Timberline

Taylor Accuracy recommends the following:

  • 300 Win Mag
  • 30 Nosler
  • 28 Nosler
  • 300 Norma Mag
  • 300 RUM with bullets under 200 gr
Why do you mention the RUM only with light bullets?

The 300 RUM is a very large caliber. It doesn’t really show it’s strength unless you are using the Berger 230 grain bullet or something similar. However, in order to use those bullets, they must be pushed past the neck shoulder junction significantly and that hurts performance. The 30 Nosler is a shortened RUM case and can push the 230 gr bullets to 3200 FPS while still feeding from a BDL or magazine.

If you really want to shoo the RUM and a 230 class bullet, use a single shot.
